Corona Virus - Covid-19 Guidelines for Farmers and Equine clients Update 22/03/20

Dear Farmers and Equine clients
So that we can continue to provide a service for you, your livestock and other animals, we would be grateful if you could follow these guidelines. Our aim is to keep our staff and clients safe during these difficult times
 
  • Booking calls - Please contact us on 01559 363318 as usual to book routine and emergency visits (we may advise against some routine visits). You may be asked questions about whether you are self-isolating or if you have any health concerns
  • Self-isolating - if you are self-isolating, please advise our staff and ensure that if a visit is arranged someone else can meet the vet and attend your animals. It may be possible with prior arrangement that vets can bring an assistant to hold horses etc if you cannot be present.
  • Biosecurity - Our vets will ensure they maintain a high level of biosecurity by wearing protective clothing and disinfecting before and after each visit.  We would appreciate your doing the same and providing warm water if required by the vet.
  • Keep your distance - It is good practice to maintain a distance of 2 metres where practical – please don’t take offence but observe this if you can
  • Telephone us firstPlease do NOT just call down to the practice to collect medicines or to speak to a vet.  Telephone us first and we will get someone to call you if you need advice. 
  • Drug orders – we are already experiencing shortages of some medicines and due to staff shortages at wholesalers our deliveries may now be on alternate days instead of daily. Please try to plan in advance where you can and allow time for deliveries.  Reception will advise you as best they can whether items are in stock or when they should be delivered.
  • Medicines -If you need medicines than we can arrange for them to be put out in the metal box outside the practice for collection.  Or we can bring them to you if you have a call booked. You will be advised of the code for the lock by reception.
  • TB tests – A TB test will continue unless the farmer or your assigned vet develop a fever, cold or flu like symptoms, in that case the test will be postponed. You should alert us asap if anyone on the farm also starts showing symptoms between the two test days as this will also result in test postponement. Anyone showing symptoms must self-isolate for 7 days, as well as the rest of the household. In that instance they should self-isolate for 7 days from onset of signs.  As should the entire household.  If these symptoms apply to the farmer or a member of his/her family, then the test should be postponed
  • Payments - Payments can be taken over the phone for prescriptions, drugs orders and accounts. Bank transfer for account payment is also accepted. Handling of cash and cheques must be avoided to minimise risks to yourself and to members of staff.

Corona Virus - Covid-19 Guidelines for Pet owners- Update 21/03/20

Dear Pet owners
So that we can continue to provide a service as long as possible for you and your pets we need you to follow these guidelines

Telephone first -​To book an appointment please contact us on 01559 363318 - you may be asked some general health questions. Please do not just turn up at the practice.  We will only be seeing emergencies and sick pets.
  • Telephone consultations - this may be more appropriate than visiting the practice and you may be offered a telephone consultation. Telephone consultations are available by appointment and payment will be requested over the phone prior to the consultation. We have set a charge of £20 for a consultation. If you are advised during the telephone consultation to visit the practice with your pet for examination this amount will be deducted from the normal consult fee that will then apply.
  • Self-isolating - If you are self-isolating, then you should NOT come to the practice.  Please arrange for someone else to bring your pet to the practice.  The vet can speak to you before and after the consultation, if you wish.
  • Collections - Please do not visit the practice to collect food or medication without an appointment, please telephone us first.  We may be able to post it to you or arrange for a delivery or a time for collection.
  • Prescriptions and Diet food - Please order your repeat prescriptions within plenty of time before running out.  We may advise you have two months supply.  Our wholesalers may now be only delivering alternate days due to staff shortages
  • Arrival - When you arrive at the practice either phone us on 01559 363318 to say you have arrived or pop in and tell a member of staff. Please then wait in the car until called. This will help protect our staff and other clients. Please do not wait in the waiting room.
  • Numbers - Only 1 person per pet to be allowed in during the consultation.
  • Hygiene - We have sanitiser available at the practice for your use.  Please use them on entry and when you leave.  We are disinfecting the practice throroughly and regulary. We will ask anyone who appears infectious or has a persistent cough to leave the surgery.
  • Payments – Payments for prescriptions and phone consultations will be taken over the phone. We ask that payments at the surgery are made with card only to minimise risks to yourself and the staff of handling cash.

Time to get ready for lambing?
Lambing time is here and it is important to be fully prepared. To help you with this busy time we have prepared an essentials lambing list for you to check your stores and to order in any items you need to replenish.

Click on the list below and print out the checklist to see if there is anything you are misssing.  It is also an order form than you can scan and email to us or just drop it in to the practice.  As an added bonus to help you through this busy time there is a 10% discount for orders over £50 that are paid for on collection.

The RSPCA always need homes for outdoor feral/farm cats.
